Interesting 'LS1 header fab' thread on LS1Tech
Just in case anyone here is thinking of fabbing their own LS1 headers, I figured that a pointer to this thread might be appreciated (particularly for the "Clevaflex" info)...

i would recommend sawing off the 2.5" pipe on the end of the collector and going 3". i plan on doing that to mine if i ever have to take them off for any reason.
that program rocks.....

One other option (the one that I'm going to try) is to get a set of headers that are made for a regular SBC or BBC, cut the flange for the cylinder head off, & then 'heat & tweak' one or two of the pipes to fit the LSx head flange...
Wish me luck...

my stainless works fit decent. for 799, you wont find a better header stainless, and tig welded.

Im exhausted with thought over this. all the parts i need to fabricate 18 gauge mild steel headers will be about $400. + the time to do it, and the fact that ive never done it before, so god knows how it will turn out.
If i screwup and end up buying the hawks headers in the end, thats an aweful lot of money that basically went to nothing.
Not sure which is the best to do. I could potentially save or lose $400 in attempting my own headers.

i helped build sets before. never on my own. its hard to mess up totally.
mild steel then coating.... youre still looking at 6-700 with shipping and all.
