LT1 swap need help FAST!!!!

well we have the motor swapped in and we think its wired correctly. the vats, air pump and egr we tuned out by pcm for less we have to problems. the first is the car will start but dies after a second or two. it's cutting spark. the second is the green and white wire from the pcm to the the fuel pump relay never gets hot so the fuel pump wont work unless we manually run it with a staight hot. any help would be huge.

Still have the LT1 vats box wired up? Sometimes just programming out the vats box isn't enough. In addition to being programmed out, sometimes the vats box wiring has to be bypassed

Re: LT1 swap need help FAST!!!!

I re-read your 1st post. Sounds like a fuel pump problem instead. I don't think your fuel pump relay is wired up right.

Use this wiring diagram as a reference(wire colors/locations may vary depending on year/model):
http://shbox.com/1/1995_pcm3.jpg

On the fuel pump relay, you want pin 30 going to any power ignition wire that is fused(or any power wire that only has power when the ignition key is turned on). Pin 86 goes to ground. Pin 87 goes to the fuel pump. You can just follow the fuel pump wire back from the fuel pump, I can't remember if its on C207. Pin 85 goes to the fuel pump relay control wire which is on connector c220, pin J. Pin 85 could go to something different, check with your year/model on here: http://shbox.com/1/harness_connector_faces.htm.

Sorry, i don't have any wiring schematics that I know of on the web other than camaro/firebird. Caprice, impala should be similar though.

When you turn on the key to ignition(but don't start it) the fuel pump should prime for about 1-2 seconds. When you have it wired right.

Re: LT1 swap need help FAST!!!!

double checked the fuel pump relay and is wired right but i think this is definately an ignition problem or pcm related because the tach in the car wasnt really moving much when it starts for the two seconds that it will run when you try to start it so i took a monster tach i had laying around and hooked it up and it is defiately noticable when you start it it hits 1000rpms and drops to zero and shuts down idk this is so confusing
