Re: it's OFFICIAL!
thanks sean! this system is by far the best i've done to-date as far as clearance and overall looks. i hope it sounds good too. the time this system took was substantial though. i spent about 4 hours working on the crossmember to make sure it was going to be exactly perfect. the rest of the exhaust took 2 more 4 hour sessions to get it done. so that's 12 hours of work, lol!
hey steve, or anyone else dealing with this stupid bull crap, can you guys post a direct link to somewhere where i can buy bolts for my starter?

ls1tech has a conversion sticky which lists 2 companies that sell the various bolts an ls setup uses. Or I believe it's $13 from a dealer for the two of them.

Re: it's OFFICIAL!
update:
i just signed the paper-work to buy a house, and i've been working on getting all the inspections taken care of.
i got the starter in the car and now i need to find some bolts to hang the alternator. i haven't really done much as far as the harness is concerned. it's just a lot to tackle and i don't want to get interrupted by my realtor to come and sign something, then i'll loose my place and it'll take a while to get back again. i am closing on the house on the 25th of march, the car WILL be driven over to the new house. i made that very clear to my fiance tonight when we were talking about all the stuff that needs to be done. i'm in baltimore this weekend, then back to the grind stone on tuesday (class, etc) and i'm hoping to get the wiring done tuesday afternoon.

Re: it's OFFICIAL!
when using a stock 4th gen throttle cable, did anyone have to modify anything to get true 100% WOT? i just put mine in and it's not getting 100% wide open throttle when on the floor. it's like the cable is too long or the cable housing is too short...i could probably bend the lever on the throttle pedal to accomplish what i need, but i'm not sure what everyone else is doing...or if this problem is specific to my car/cable.

Ya but if you've been happy with it before just think of it as free found hp. I'd love to find some free hp for my car and I'm going absolutely bonkos trying not to tear down a perfectly good engine just to build a faster one this year so a compromise has been made....

fresh tsunami fuel pump is now in, got 5gals of fresh 93 in her too. had my buddy come over with some HP tuners action today. he turned off my VATS along with a slew of other things as well...and kinda gave me a bit of a base line so the pcm doesn't freak out about some 4.56 gears and a 28" tall tire. i'm waiting on the battery to charge then we'll see what's cookin'

it starts! and i'm exhausted...
it doesn't run though. it'll run for about 5 seconds then shut off. we're suspecting a possible bad MAF. but i need to do some trouble shooting first. but it does start...and sounded NASTY through that 4" magnaflow out back when i got one good little rev out of her....it spins up QUICK....

Re: it's OFFICIAL!
greg came back over this morning and turned the VATS off for real this time. turned the key and it fired right up and stayed running. has a nice crisp clean sound to it too. so far we can tell that the MAF is not reading and the wiring to the 4l60e may not be correct. i have the plugs physically in the transmission, but it's throwing all three trans codes and is defauling to 2nd gear like it's not hooked up. i did NOT do anything to the harness going to the trans, nor have i put any additional power to the trans other than giving power the the PCM. is there anything else i'm supposed to do?
oh, and enjoy a video:

Re: it's OFFICIAL!
got another small victory, the trans now seems to be operating semi-correctly. found a wire that needed a 12v source and i piggy-backed it onto the switched 12v going to the PCM. with it still on jackstands the car seems to be going into at least the first 3 forward gears now.
and a thanks to the guys at speartech for taking the time out of your morning to answer a technical question from a guy who didn't spend money with you. stand up fellas in my opinion, and i'll make sure the next go 'round we use one of your harnesses, this has been a severe pain in the butt!

Sounds good Matt. Glad to see you are getting the wiring straightened out. I hate wiing, I am sure it was as bad as the Lt1 wiring. once again CONGRATS.....

Congrats on getting it running. Sure sounds quiet in the video at idle, is it really quiet or just the camera didn't pick it up?

Re: it's OFFICIAL!
thanks guys! it's not super loud, it doesn't have a whole lot of camshaft. it's got a stock sounding idle really. obviously i'm looking for a little more sound eventually, but i wanted to be able to drive the thing without getting a headache, which is why i did the exhaust the way i did. still relatively loud outside the car, but tolerable inside the car.
five7, i'm no wild man, look at you trying to run AC and stuff! and you live in CO and i'm in GA!?! i think we got that kinda backwards...
...i hope the 4l60e doesn't give me too many fits, i got a lot of money tied up in it to turn around and do something different. if i have to do anything different, i'll be going with a 3rd pedal and 6 gears to grab...

Have to have AC at this altitude. Less atmosphere to block the sun, interior gets horrible hot. Besides, I'm getting old and soft.

Re: it's OFFICIAL!
i drove it tonight! just around the block and down the road kinda thing. i have a bunch of stuff i need to do now:
-bleed brakes
-figure out gauge situation
-swap manual steering box back in
-put the hood hinges back on it so i can actually attach my hood
-put my muffler back on since it fell off
-tidy up my wiring some more
but all in all it was pretty cool! it seems as though it may be slipping going into 4th, but it's kinda hard to tell right now.
i'm just so glad it goes down the road again.

sounds nice, a bit quite at idle tho.
did you had to make a new trans cross member or did it just for exhaust clearance?

Re: it's OFFICIAL!
the mounting point for the transmission is about 2" further back than a 700r4/t5 so it did have to be modded, though i suppose it's not necessary to mod it as extreme as i did. i did all that to make sure i have as much ground clearance as possible.
speaking of which i hit my collector on a speed bump the other day because i was goign a big too fast
well, i have been driving it around for a little over a week now with decent results. i need to pull the gear out of the rearend and go with something a little less extreme, those 4.56's are giving me a headache, lol! we're also having some problems with the MAF so i'm just gonna tune it out and run speed density. i'm also going to build a killer 4" intake.
