LS1 In Cali.
just wondering would i be able to swap an ls1 and be smog legal here in cali?

Yes you can, but you will have to take the car to a smog referee when you're done. The referee will go over the car with a fine tooth comb and make sure EVERYTHING from the newer engine is hooked up. I've heard stories of referees failing the swap because the thirdgen air cleaner was used instead of the LS1 one, even though the LS1 air intake wouldnt fit. Things like that are a pain in the butt and are part of the reason why I respect LS1's but prefer to build TPI engines for thirdgens.

Although I didn't go through it while I lived in California, I understand it's called the "motor change" process. If you use the words "engine" or "swap" in your inquiries, you'll draw a blank.

My Ls1 swap is cali legal. Went to ref 3 times but passed in the end. You have to get an LS1 out of a car not a truck. Dont ask me why, just know its the cali way. So its very possible. Hit me up if you want more info on this.
