when i pulled my lt1 apart to rebuild it i didnt know that the lt1 crank hub didnt have a keyway so i didnt pay attention to the position of the balancer/crank hub on the crank, has anyone else done this? how would i reinstall correctly? does the hub/balancer need to be installed in a certain position on the crank?any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

It doesn't really matter.. however my stock hub did have some scores on it that gave a good idea of how it went on. Stock LTx engines are neutral balance on the damper. My new setup does have an ATI on it now however.

You can do it that way or just put it on, TDC matters very little to an lt1, unless for some reason you are going with a standard distributor it simply doesn't matter for timing purposes. As far as engine balance it won't matter, stock LT1 dampers are neutral. A better idea by far is to actually have the thing keyed, thunderracing also sells a keyed damper hub. That way the thing won't spin which has happened to some folks (like me).. http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=4&pcid=239
