I cant seem to find anyone that has used the hawks ls1 swap headers with a 4L80E and i need to know if the headers will clear that big of a trans. I have tried posting this question on other forums but nobody seems to have an answer. I would like to answer this question before i go spend big money on a trans that will not work with my 800 dollar headers.

have you done the swap?

these things are TIGHT on my th350/ had to chop up the bellhousing for them to fit.
i see no way to use the bungs supplied in the header for an 02 sensor.
it would get into the case of the tranny.
ive got one of the 1st sets made. dont know if they have changed designs.
all dependant on pan rail width.

 

i have not done the swap yet. i will probably be a project for this coming winter. I do have the 6.0L in my car with the 700r-4 and the headers are a very tight fit but they do fit good. My o2 bungs point up and it looks like the o2 sensor would fit very tightly between the trans and tunnel. I did a carb conversion on mine so i never had to worry about them.

it looks like they would fit, but if you ever had to replace them, dropping the header is a must.
on a larger case th400 or an 80e might not even work at all.
when i talked to hawks about the headers, they were modeled off a manual transmission.
dont know if i would have done that, as there are tons of auto guys out there.
anyway.
im really wanting to step up to 1 7/8 with my new motor and sell these, i just dont want to have to redo all my exhaust for the 30th time.
