Question about ram air and lt1 maf

i have a hawks style ram air box w/custom high flow lid, k&n's and a descreened maf,and i was thinking of maybe taking out my fog lights to get a little more flow the next time i go to the track, anybody tried this with tpi or lt1?will this do me some good or will it just cause to much turbulence and mess with the maf sensor?thanks in advance, joe

Re: Question about ram air and lt1 maf

Ram air is really just cold air. None of the ram air systems force air through your filters unless you are hitting speeds in surplus of 200mph. Someone has even claimed on the boards here that Pontiac admitted that the ram air Firebird option was really just a marketing ploy, albeit WS6 4th Gens are awesome cars. So the advantage of ram air is not that it's ramming any air at all but that it's pulling in cold air.

With all that said, I have my own ram air tubes on my TPI too. I think the benefit is just pulling in air that's a little colder than what you'd get right at the top of the hot radiator. So I don't think you'll notice a difference at all whether you have your fog lights on or off.

I pulled my fog lights and put on the rubber grill that came on Camaros w/o fog lights. It was more an aesthetic choice than performance though. I just think it looks cleaner.

EDIT: Just noticed the original post was a year and a few days old. I thought it was just a few days old. Somehow missed that whole year thing. Sorry for commenting on such an old issue.
