Lokar Throttle Cable Bracket

Not sure how long they've had this, hadn't heard of it that I recall, but saw it in a car mag and found it on their site.

If you want to use a Lokar throttle cable, this would make it easier.

Re: Lokar Throttle Cable Bracket

Thats actually pretty nice looking... Now that Im contemplating not using cruise control, I might check out the LOKAR options. Thanks for the link!

They have both with and without cruise brackets.

Re: Lokar Throttle Cable Bracket

Yup...I saw that. But I wouldnt buy a lokar cable for the stock cruise unit..if there is even something available to interface with it. Ide think the two hole'd unit is for a kick down cable more than anyting.

If I decide to keep the cruise, Ill just use the GM cables, which look fine since I tuck them away and under the coil covers anyway.

I'll be using an L76 intake and 90mm TB in the '57. I already have a Lokar cable for the carb on the 396 currently, so one of their long cables for LSx is a natural. The L76 intake didn't come with a bracket, either.

The LQ4 w/LS6 intake/TB going in Berlinetta #1 may get one as well - haven't decided on that yet. It will have cruise, and the current carb cruise throttle cable will be useless.

After all, it's only money. . .

Re: Lokar Throttle Cable Bracket

Since I'm doing throttle cable homework right now, I figured I'd resurrect this from the dead to provide some info.

For LS3/L76 intakes, the only option (besides DIY) for a throttle cable bracket is from SDPC. They offer a painted steel bracket for about $40 or a billet aluminum for about $80.

Wow, thanks for the update. I hadn't looked at the L76 intake that closely, so I didn't realize it was different.

It doesn't have provisions for a cable mount because GM phased out cable operated throttle bodies long before this intake (along with the LS3 that replaced it) came along.

Makes sense. I just hadn't thought about it nor looked at the intake. The factory often carries over obsolete features (such as a flat spot for the oil fill on the front of SBC intakes - it was there for years after they went to valve cover fill), so I didn't think twice about it.

Re: Lokar Throttle Cable Bracket

I have the Lokar cable and it works great. Any of you that has this cable knows that it dosen't fit the third gen firewall very well. Here's what I did. I took the stock third gen cable, and cut the piece that fits the firewall hole from the cable, then pulled the inner piece out. Now there will be a hole. Tap this hole to the thread size of the cable,(I can't remember the size, but will update later today) and then screw in the cable. then snap it into the firewall. Looks like it came this way. I'll get some pics later today, when I go down to my shop. Hope this helps, Dean.

Re: Lokar Throttle Cable Bracket

I used a big fender washer with a small hole on both sides of the firewall, looks pretty good
