LT1 Swap for my 305 Carb

I saw a recent craigslist posting where I could get most of the core parts for an LT1 for fairly cheap, but I'm wondering what will I need to do in all to make this work. Just some things here...

How much would a descent aggresive cam cost?
How about an aluminum driveshaft?
Will I need to upgrade my basic 5 speed manual w/ hurst short throw on it? and how much will that be.
I'm still looking around for a posi rear end. Figure those are around 200-400?

Anyways just an overall list of all the little things I'll need to swap, like ECU or whatever that most people don't think of when they decide to swap. Thanks for the help.

Re: LT1 Swap for my 305 Carb

You've left this pretty wide open. What is your goal with the project? You will do better reading some of the threads already posted. There are alot of threads on this swap under the https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...questions.html
and
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...1-lt1-tpi.html

I cant offer alot of technical advice yet as I'm in the middle of a 305tpi to 350 LT1 (carbed) swap myself. I would suggest doing a ton of reading as i have then ask more specific questions as you go.

Summit has great prices on new items and you can also find some good deals right here in the classifieds

good luck!

Re: LT1 Swap for my 305 Carb

one of my goals was to leave it more open ended so anyone can just chip in advice. Just little tid bits about "hey watch out for this" or "If you do this like this it'll be a lot easier"

Also I'm trying to avoid ordering online, seeing as how I don't have a credit card and I don't want to have to borrow one. Thanks though, it'll give me a good idea on pricing.

Since it is a core block with some accesories my goal would be to finish it off, and along the way for the stuff I need put in a few performance pieces here and there. Maybe finish it off at 325hp+? I prefer torque to horsepower though.

Hey I read through some of those other ones, and looked it up a bit on wikipedia. Basically an LT4 is what I think I'd be looking at. Or close to it, an LT1 operating like an LT4 because of the cam and whatever. (My budget would be under 600$ so I don't think this'll work out, but it'll be good future reference.
