LS1 3rd gen first day at track (update)

Last week was pretty nice out, so I decided to take the car to the track and see what it would do. I know I need stickier tires, but I think it did pretty well. The first run I just smashed the gas and it spun pretty bad and ran a 13.5 (lost to a mustang), second run against the same mustang, I got on the gas a little softer and ran a 12.8 ( beat the mustangs 13.2), and the last run it ran a 12.5 w/2.02 60ft @114.xx. What do you guys think it will run with suspension mods and stickier tires?

I am leaving to Japan for three years, so before I left I figured I would take the car to the track and see how it would do with some drag radials (nitto 555r). I had a friend let me borrow some MT et's, but they didn't fit so I made the passes on the 18" nittos. The only difference from the first video was the wheel and tire combo. How much lower do you think I can get with some 15's out back and some skinnies? My best pass was 11.62@117.8 with a 1.70 60, but I dont have a video of it. Here are some of the 11.67,11.68, and 11.75.

315 drag radials and a stronger rear. You should be low 12's high 11's. Good numbers though!

Re: LS1 3rd gen first day at track

Your trap speed suggest you should be in the mid-high 11s. So, a better suspension and sticky tires as well as a lower hear will snag some nastier 60 foot times that will also translate to the lower ET.

Id be willing to bet he would trap at least 1 more MPH in the quarter by swapping to a lighter tire and wheels combo, LOL.

I know, but he is putting out around 500hp to the wheels with full slicks. And the wheels are 18" not 20". But seriously I just went to see what it would do just the way it was. I know with suspension and DR's I should be able to lower my et's. The mods to the car so far are a vrx4 cam, p&p tb, long tube headers, and a yank ss3600 with stock suspension. I plan on doing the suspension before getting stickier tires.

Re: LS1 3rd gen first day at track

All you need is a set of drag radials and a good burnout. Mount up some on an old set of stockers.

Car looks great, love the color.

Re: LS1 3rd gen first day at track (update)

Nice runs! I ran a 13.9 with a cammed 6.0 LOL, it was running a stock tune, had no MAP sensor and shorted the O2. It still spun through the 1/8th though! Hey Zane I run to Conroe about every other weekend, we can try those tires on mine LOL

Where in japan are you going? I'm getting stationed in Misawa for 2 years...

Also, that's all you have done to the Ls1 and your running 11s?
