Hey I have a LT1 engine and harness from a 93 firebird, I was wondering if the Oil Pressure sensor sends the same signal as my old 305 TBI. If it does I dont really have any oil pressure, which isnt good.

I hooked up the tach signal and that isnt the same because im not getting anything on the gauge, so hopefully there just not the same signals.

i'm not sure on the lt1, but it might be the same as the ls1 tach signal where you add a resisted 12v spliced between the ecm and the tach to boost the signal strength. i just got the resistor to do it to mine, search around here theres a thread somewhere on it.

as far as oil pressure, i have read both ways, but again i think they were mostly ls swaps. probably best to get a mechanical gauge, and know what it really is.

It should read fine. Pull a valve cover and make sure you're actually getting oil pressure. Your SBC sender will fit the LT1 port on the rear china wall if you cant get the new one to work

Ok thanks for the replys, Its a brand new sender and I believe the circuit is working. I do get some movement in oil pressure on the gauge just not enough to call it safe. Im gona get my old sender and install that and see how that goes.

That would really suck if I wasnt getting any oil pressure.

I would pull the coil wire (to prevent it from starting) and crank the engine over a few times with a valve cover removed. No sense in locking up a good engine because you suspect a faulty sender. Read my LSx swap thread for a nice scare story on the topic

Well I got the engine for a really good deal, the guy said it was fine but this would make sense why I got it so cheap. Really hoping not. Ill know thursday when I dont have work.
