Finally my own swap to post in this section!

Ok so I have lurked and posted in this forum for years but am finally able to start my own. Have a 94 Lt1 going into the car in my sig. My swap is going to be slightly different than most. The plan is to have the intake drilled and modified for a distributor and then run a megasquirt setup. Harness will be tucked as cleanly as possible. This leads me to a BIG question:

Who can I send the intake to for the mods needed for the distributor?

Engine is going in with my longtubes I already have. Plan is to finally finish my custom off road y setup. Engine has ran 12.2@110 in a slightly lightened lt1 formula and was just a bolt on setup. Has Manley springs and Crane Gold 1.6 roller rockers installed already as well as a CSR electric water pump. Going to be backed by my t56 with a spec clutch and a 4th gen 3.42 10 bolt.

Pictures should be up soon of the progress. First step is to get the intake modded and the harness/ecu ordered.

You'll need to modify your heads to take a pre-LT1 intake like the TPiS Mini-Ram. The LT1 plenum and runners just won't get any air to the rear cylinders if you butcher it far enough to fit a dizzy. TPiS has a version of the Mini-Ram that's intended for Vortec heads, that'd be the best way to go.
But since you're going with illegal electronics, you may as well go with an illegal intake. There's a version of the HSR that's for Vortec heads, you should adapt that. It'll make slightly better low-end, and is cheaper, than the Mini-Ram.
You can TPI an LT1 if you're so inclined. Accel makes a base for putting the SuperRam on an LT1, then just use whatever runners you like with any '85-'92 plenum.

As far as I understand you just have to drill a hole and then have a spacer welded to the base for the distributor to sit on. And since the intake is going back on lt1 heads I shouldn't need any other mods.

I definitely don't want to go with any tpi style intake as I am not a fan of them or their torque production at all. I have thought about going with a single plane intake but don't want to pay for all the mods needed to do that.

That's fine with a small-cap dizzy, like the '88-'92, but MegaSquirt requires a large cap version, like '81-'87

The EGR base can be cut off for more clearance if needed

Clearance issues from a large cap dist are near the fuel rail, not the intake. Modify it for AN fittings and youll be good to go

Try this at last resort

Why is that? What's the difference between the two distributors?

On the DIYautotune website they show a conversion they used a small cap setup for?
