Re: lsx headers

Anyone have any of these headers yet? I'd like to find out how well they fit before I buy them.

Re: lsx headers

I saw those the other day, I know some one running a set of the mid-length headers but none with the LT version yet. Considering the size, it's tempting vs the Hawk's for $699.

Re: lsx headers

Their prices for LT's range from $670 - $830... Thats for ceramic coated. You scrap a speed bump, and they will rust. Untill those prices come down into the $500 range...paying for the stainless is still the better choice IMO.

Not saying these are crap or anything. Just not seeing the deal vs. stainless that Hawk's offers.

Glad to see some other companies stepping up though. Thats what we need. More supply. Then we'll start getting competitive pricing and more "sales and group purchases".

Re: lsx headers

i am a little curious about the flat collector idea. seems like that would be a tight fit to get inside the "frame rails" and the trans, ul\nless it hangs below the rails.

That's my opinion too. Based on their "prototype" pics posted on ls1tech, they don't really look like they are going to provide any additional ground clearance than the Hawks.

The mid-length look like a great solution for those who want to retain a stock style y-pipe & exhaust on more mild builds though.

Re: lsx headers

A stock style Y-pipe isnt possible for LSx swaps because of the 360* bellhousing and oil pan shape. You simply cant get the drivers exhaust over to merge in the stock-ish location

Any merge must be behind the trans so the argument for shorties/mids vs LT Y-pipe clearance is null

Like this?:

Stock style Y pipe, stock location cats, and yes Numb-nut-mechanic wrapped my crank sensor harness around the trans lines...

Re: lsx headers

Youll drag everywhere even at stock ride height. Thats better than 2" below the oil pan which is exactly even with the bottom of the K-member. Truck pans hang that low

Re: lsx headers

It's not that much lower than the trans pan really, It's scrapes once in a blue moon if I'm not careful over high speedbumps. Other than that I just give it the same consideration I do when driving the corvette.

Except it's easier to get one 2-1/2" pipe through beside a 4L60E than it is getting 4 pipes/collector in there.
