LSx weight in 3rd gen camaro
I was wondering the weight of an LSx in a camaro.
Id like someone to chime in with an aluminum block and Iron.
EFI weights please not carb.
Also what light weight parts did you use? K-member? A-Arms?

Re: LSx weight in 3rd gen camaro
EFI/Carb makes little difference. Composite intake, harness, PCM vs alum intake and carb. Pretty close
Full weight is dependent on how much you put on the engine. Full dress to one person is missing stuff to others. Weights range from 350lbs to nearly 500lbs from manifold, accessory and trans type changes
Regardless, any GEN III/IV engine will raise the front end of your 3rd gen significantly. Stiffer spring cars like WS6 and IROCs generally come up 1-2". Base V8 birds and camaros usually 3-4". V6's usually an inch
About the only easy number to find is the iron vs alum block difference is 70-80lbs depending on bore

So, pocket, oh wise LSX guru... does that mean that if you do an LSX/T56 swap into a V6 bird, you don't have to change the front springs? Admittedly it is a small benefit... just wondering. My proposed future LSX swap is for a V6 bird.

A tale of two Camaros:
Berlinetta #1, full iron ZZ3 350, Al intake manifold, headers, TH700, 10-bolt rear, 1/4 tank gas, emptied trunk, track scale with driver, 3550 lbs.
Berlinetta #2, all Al LS1, headers, T56, 9" iron center section rear, 1/2 tank gas (4th gen tank), nothing removed from trunk, track scale with driver, 3485 lbs.
Neither has GFX, both have AC, PS, PW, etc. #1 has PL, #2 doesn't. #2 has remote hatch release, #1 doesn't.
Berlinetta #1 started off as a V6 car. I used the front springs from the V8 donor car and tossed the V6 springs in the garage attic. When the Berlinetta #2 LS1/T56 swap started, I pulled the V6 springs down from the attic and installed them. I'm not building an auto x car, but it handles just fine for me (better than Berlinetta #1, but #2 does have a bigger rear sway bar).
