LT1 swap Radiator Mounting Angle
I purchased a griffin radiator from Hawks for an LT1 swap into a thirdgen so its supposed to fit like a thirdgen radiator but has all the connections for an LT1 radiator.
I forgot how the factory thirdgen radiator is installed but this new one does not install straight up and down. I get the bottom of the radiator to rest where the factory thirdgen radiator was but it is too tall to fit straight up and down. I have to angle it such that it is closer to the engine at the top than at the bottom by like 3 in!!
I emailed hawks and have not heard back yet.
Anyone know how this should be installed? Can I leave the radiator at an angle? Where do I buy the rubber pads to sit the radiator on and how should I hold the radiator in place? I am thinking of some plate on top that screws into the frame across the from of the car just under the hood and laps onto and over the edge of the radiator to create a lip that holds the radiator down and from falling towards the engine. So basically there are no screws or bolts that hold it in - is this right?
I know i am taking over the boards with soo many questions but i need these little items taken care of and the car will be running hopefully in the next 2 months. already lost the entire summer because of stupid little things like searching for screws for sensors and waiting for sensors to come in and so on....

the radiator doesnt tuck all the way underneath that opening...
you need a shroud on top to hold it down. if it is dimensionally identical to a third gen you should be able to use the old shroud...

Yea, thats what its called.. couldnt think of the name haha.
I am probably going to make some nice shinny metal shroud or something out some thick guaged metal.
I will basically have the radiator sit on rubber pads and hold it down on top with the shroud and probably have some pads on the sides somehow to keep it in place and from moving anywhere.
As far as the angle is concerned i guess it wont be a problem except that the fans are going to blow down at an angle rather than straight at the motor.
Damn aftermarket parts... still havent heard back from Hawks about this either.
