LT1 hood clearence

I need to know just how much room there is between the top of an LT1's intake, and the hood on a stock Camaro.

TIA-

Eric

Quite a bit. do you need an exact measurement?

Re: LT1 hood clearence

Well, I had my PCM mounted above the back of the intake manifold for years and it cleared the cowl, so figure at least 4" at the back. Front is going to be tighter, probably less than 2".

It sits really low in an F-body, and in a Camaro you will have more clearance at the front of the motor since your fenders don't slope down as much as a firebird.

What are you planning on putting on top of the intake, or are you going to cut a duct into your hood?

I'm considering getting a Z28 hood with the louvers and ducting air from the rad to it, I'm starting to think I'll just make my own vent in a regular hood. we'll see!
