i recently bought an ls1 engine... the guy that sold it to me said that it was from a 1998 z28. the engine came with out the harness and i was wondering if i would be able to go to my local junk yard and buy a harness and use it with the engine or would it not work and should i just buy he lsx conversion harness from hawks... thank you

Re: LSX swap question
Wrong section, but there are allot of threads if you search that have great details on making the wiring work and even a member here that can do it for you, i just went carbed so i didn have to worry about all that.

It's at the top of this board.
There is a sticky on how to merge a LS1 and TPI harness.

Re: LSX swap question
if you've got no harness/ecu now, stay away from the 98 electronics! completely different beast than the other years and not as nicely supported as 99+. You may have to change a couple sensors (coolant temp comes to mind), but you're better off. if you're handy with a soldering iron, you can convert a truck harness for a fraction of the cost of the ls1 car harnesses
