What LT1 should I be looking for?

So L03 is gone, I chipped off a part of the small cylinders where the lifter goes and it was a decent chunk. Blessing in disguise since I was planning or wanting to drop a good money on it and it being clocked at 154k as it is.

So of course after that happened, I thought to myself well engine swap time.

I looked over and it all ended up with going LT1, I can keep my 700R4 for a bit longer, decent motor even stock, and the price is right for one locally. I can even re-use my exhaust that I recently put together and money won't go wasted.

There are a few LT1's I see, what would be the differences between each? Meaning the Caprice version, Cam, Impala, etc.

The one I am liking right now is from a fellow 3rd gener who has sold me things in the past, a few being my 9 bolt and some other things. Its a 1997 Trans Am, did not meantion mileage but its $800.

So what Lt1 should I be looking for to find if it even matters.

To use that engine, you'll have to get the throttle body setup off a 93 engine, they were the last ones to use a vacuum operated transmission setup. you should be able to reuse your exhaust. I personally would only get a corvette/f body lt1 because they come with aluminum heads.

The 97 will be OBD2 which means you will either have to run 4 O2 sensors or have two of them programmed out of the computer. You will also need to disable VATS through the tuning process. Other than that, Dr. Phil is correct about the 93 throttle body for the detent cable. You will also need the 93 trhottle body bracket and detent cable so you can be sure the pivots are correct and you don't burn up your trans.
