Re: coil relocation

I had a buddy who used a coil relocation bracket which put them on the back of the intake but he yanked it and ended up going back to the valve covers after he ran into problems with the setup.

Re: coil relocation

there have been many people that have done it on ls1tech. there are numerous companies that sell kits or you can build your own. some have went as far as to mount the coils inside the car. they have done it with zero issues. google ls1 coil relocation. i am going to do the same with mine when i get it all together.

The billet brackets mounted just above the valve covers looks amazing on these engines

Re: coil relocation

so i saw adm carries some that mount on the back of the cylinder heads. would there be any disadvantages to mounting the coils there. are the coils sensitive to a lot of heat.

Re: coil relocation

I'm planning on making my own mounts. For what aftermarket ones cost, I refuse to believe that I can't do just as well for way less money. Considering that I'd rather make them disappear anyway, I have no need for billet mounts. Some nicely welded steel mounts painted black that compact the coils into as tight a space as possible will suit me best. After I put the motor in the engine bay I'll have to figure out where I'm going to put them. Something tells me that they'll wind up in the battery tray and the battery relocated to the back of the car. I like where Pocket put his, but I can't see the driver side working the same way with the steering shaft and brake lines in the way.

I just saw katech prices $189.99 for just the bracket. Definitely not worth it. I could always just mount them on the firewall or somewhere else. I think i will just buy the regular mounts off a ls2 and mount them on the firewall. I have a brand new set of msd wires anyways, so I guess I could just do that.

Re: coil relocation

I made that one from angle iron. It wasnt too difficult. Drivers side is a no-no mostly due to all those brake lines being in the way of everything
