97' LT1 T56 vs. 98' Ls1 T56 Comparison

Hello fellow 3rd gen enthusiasts. I am swapping a 95' 9C1 LT1 (police pkg) & T56 6 speed from a 97 or 98 Camaro SS into my 1989 RS Camaro. I was just wondering if there are any differences between a 97' LT1 T56s and 98' LS1 T56 6 speeds as far as compatibility/installation, operational issues go....??? I am just trying to avoid any possible issues during the final installation...Any help is greatly appreciated....Thanks.

Yes, you have to change the bellhousing, clutch assy, input shaft, front plate, TOB to the older T56 style. By then it usually cheaper to sell off the LS T56 and buy the right one from the start

I'm not exactly sure if my T56 is a 97' or 98' model. Is there a serial/model number or some specific way to tell exactly what year T56 I have....??? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its fairly easy to tell the difference between the lt1 and ls1 style

if you have a clutch fork, or a pivot for the clutch fork, then you have the lt1 style

If you have two small, threaded holes on the front of the trans, right near the input shaft, across from each other (3 and 9) then you'll have the ls1 style trans
