lt1 swap

hey. i am currently trying to swap my 2.8l v6 for a 5.7l LT1 into my 1988 base camaro. my lt1 is out of a 1996 impala and ive already discovered the block motor mounts have to be shifted to get it to fit straight, now that its in the car, is there anything else i need to know? any and all replies are appreciated, this is going to be my first car and hopefully a future drag car so i would really like it to be nice and DONE RIGHT.

thanks,

chase

Re: lt1 swap

also, i would like to know if my block will handle a twin turbo kit, an estimated cost, and anything that will make my task a little simpler. if any of you have done this, can you give me an idea as to which type of turbo kit would be best; cost aside, i want this to be nice so ill pay whatever it takes

thanks

Re: lt1 swap

you also have to move the frame mounts, I would suggest reading the stickies and doing a search in this sub forum

Re: lt1 swap

Wow. You don't seem to have a clear direction with what you are doing. You're asking the right questions but you need to do ALOT more research before commiting to a twin turbo setup. I would guess the engine, turbos, and custom piping are gonna run you at least $10K, assuming you do as much of the work as possible. Then you have to worry about the trans, driveshaft and rear end. If you are serious, you can find alot of info on this forum but get ready to open your wallet.

You can find a monoblade throttle body here http://www.tpis.com/parts/view/46

Re: lt1 swap

well thanks, ive already bought the engine with the transmission, and although its frowned upon, if already bought a ford 9 in rear with a strange positrac centersection with 3.70 gears. the engine is in and we are currently wiring it, but we have to install the radiator and condensor still, as soon as we get it to start it will be taken back out , a 4 in cowl is going on and its being painted black with satin black racing stripes. i was also wondering if you need a new radiator to work with the lt1 and what type and size fuel pump i need.

thanks

Any headers for the 3rd gen will work. Don't worry about the D-port heads. I am running Flowtech mid lenght headers but I wouldn't recommend them. They hit the passenger frame rail and the y-pipe is crap.
