Yes it will bolt on. Making it work right will require you to purchase about $250 in parts. Ranging from detent cable, intake bracket, throttle body add on bracket, Tcc lock up and vss things. All this of course for a proper swap.

Another reason why the 4L60E that comes with the LT1 is a better candidate

Re: LT1 + 700R4?

700r4 and 4l60 are the same thing. It may have been 'called' a 4l60 in 92-93 but its the same transmission.

To answer the op's original question: Will a 96 LT1 bolt to a 700r4 - YES

Re: LT1 + 700R4?

Why not pick up a L05? Upgrade the cam to a l98 add some 1.6 rr and have a tune sent to you? Would of been my route if I stayed with gen 1. Tpi is nice but even 305s can go for 400-600 and l98s I see go for 400-750. This for good ones (under 110k).

What are the parts that cost the most? I figured you just needed the stock cables and such from a 93 lt1 fbody and the stock 93 throttle body? What are the proper parts for it?

You do but finding thpse parts for me and the past 3 weeks have been impossible. Next up are aftermarket offerings. Throttle bodys range anywhere from $130-$200 and even stock ones I have seen go from $75-$125.
