quick question on engine transportation

the end of this week im picking up an LT1 for my 92 firebird, and all i have to haul it in is a 94 explorer. i thought i could maybe lay the seat down, plump it in a tire, and strap it down back there? or will i have to find a friend to haul in truck.... anything answers/advice will be much appreciated. thanks

Re: quick question on engine transportation

a tire works, just be damn sure its strapped in really well. Not sure what the explores has for cargo anchors. You dont want to panic stop and have a 800lb hunk of iron come smashing into you

truck it the best bet.

Re: quick question on engine transportation

Unless you make a basic cradle for it to sit in from a bunch of 2x4's, putting it in a tire is the simplest way. One 8' 2x4 is enough to make a cradle. Tie straps don't need to be extreme unless you drive like an idiot. You just need enough to keep the engine from rocking around.
