LT1 power

Whats the best way to build power on a LT1? might be gettin a 95Z that got a cam, headers, built tranny and 4.10 gear....is a 383 kit worth it on a LT1 or is there a better way to make power?

Re: LT1 power

We will assume you are going to put this motor in your 3rd gen? What are your power goals? A "383" kit is more than just that. It will require a complete rebuild of the current motor and doesn't include machine shop costs, gaskets, bolts, etc.

Re: LT1 power

If its got a cam, headers and a 410, I'd say forget the stroker kit. Drop it in and have some fun!

Re: LT1 power

Lose the cam thats in it and call up loyd elliot or advanced inductions and get a head and cam package and forget the stroker. Get some good rod bolts and call it a day.

Re: LT1 power

well what can I expect to gain frome say the 383 kit, besides lots of torque which is what I'm shooting for. And I know I'd have to get it machined too.

And I'm not sure if it'll be switched over yet, its got a nice setup as is. might just fix it have some fun for a while, and sell it for a profit.

And 1badeagle what kind of power has been proven with the packages your mentioning?

There is no set answer to this. Infinate possibilities. You could have a 383 LT1 make 150hp or 500hp based on the conbo of parts. Its better to work backwards for you plan. What type of power do you want? How "big" is your budget? Are you dead set on an LT1 for your power goals (see question 1)?

Re: LT1 power

300whp is doable with bolt ons dude. My old lt1 350 made over 400whp with le2 head and cam package. I had tons of torque.

Just a little insight on the 300 at the tire:
93z28 169k,4l60e,speed density.
Longtubes,true duals
Upgrade to 24lb from the 22s for 93
Pcm for less chip
Dynod 282hp and 313tq
now add new valve springs and 1.6 or 1.7 rockers you should meet that goal!
you can blow those #s completely out of the park by using a cam head package from
either Lloyd or AI then look toward to 360- 410
I have a bolt on 6spd car in sig that puts down 320/336
