'95 Caprice LT1 into '92 RS
ok,I just baught a 1992 camaro rs with the 5.0 in it and I think its ready to take a **** on me. I also have a LT1 from a 1995 caprice police package car,but just the motor,no harness, no computer. Can I just use the stock computer thats in the rs right now and have it tuned or should i look for one thats from a 95 caprice or 95 caprice police package.

To answer your question though, the 3rd gen ECM is not going to work with the LT1 without extensive modifications, even then its sub-par to the newer PCM from the LT1
There is a good bit of info about incorporating the LT1 wiring/PCM to the 3rd gen wiring in the LT1 and LS1 swap stickys at the top of the forum

Re: '95 Caprice LT1 into '92 RS
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: You have a few options. You can make the LT1 run off of the TPI computer, off of a LT1 computer, off a LS1 computer with vortec truck dizzy, or with LS1 computer with coil packs. However, TPI computer or LT1 computer would be the cheapest. Also matters what transmission you want to use because have to do some stuff for a 700R4.
TPI computer wouldn't require having to figure out a wiring harness but you would have to drill a hole in the back of the LT1 intake for installing a rear dizzy and get the special angled machined spacer for the rear dizzy. Also don't know for sure if any LT1 sensors would give issues with the TPI computer like the knock sensor. Send a private message to thirdgen.org member Z69 for the rear spacer, he had a few spacers for sale a month ago. To drill the hole, need to make a template, follow the instructions on this website:
