Oh, thank you thank you thank you! I thought I was the only one. I seriously spent five hours today workin on 5 bolts. And that is being conservative.

Takin it easy for today. I didn't know my patience was going to get tested so much! lol

Nice score on the parts, I like the flat black theme. Not so big on the pink, though, but its your car! Keep the progress coming!

Which bolts are giving you trouble? For the large bolts that attach the torque arm to the rear I always grab my vise grips and clamp it on the top of the bolt. Then I get the adjustable wrench and remove the nut from the bottom. Once you loosen the nut the bolt may or may not start to spin but the vise grips will eventually catch on the body of the car and stop the bolt from spinning. Then just continue to remove the nut and pull the bolt out. The front is either a 13mm or a 15mm and takes a little patience. I would remove rear portion of the torque arm before moving to the front. If you do the front first, don't put your hand above the torque arm. It has a tendency to rotate up.

got a bunch O **** done today. lifted the motor and grinded the frame cause it was like a hair away from the k-member (it doesnt look like much space in the pics but it is). put the radiator in. fabbed up my own ghetto trans mount (until i can get it to my exhaust guy). dropped the back of the car and cut out my fuel hatch.

well dont have the fuel pump hooked up and have to mess with the wiring some more but hey it cranks over fine for now. kinda wanted to see if the $25 dollar starter i bought was good.

oh this where i routed my vette filter cause i couldnt get off the OE filter (was using the correct size wrenches but still round the nut).

yeah well your on the budget im on you have to compromise a bit.

got the new fuel pump in just need to buy some hoses and clamps for them. gotta finish some more wiring, figure out how im goin to make the TPI oil pressure sensor fit in the hole on the top of the block.

I think you convinced me to run the vette filter under-hood on my T/A when I go for the 5.3 swap, except it will be on the other side, because my car is a factory carb'd car. I like the convenience of it being readily available like that.

Keep it coming!

careful - the factory carb lines are not going to work for an EFI swap (doing this right now) unless you get the correct fittings and flares. the stock carb lines do not have any threaded fittings on them and just clamp to low pressure lines. Same with the sending unit - its gotta go.

Just one more area us factory carb guys have to toss in more money for the swap; not a big difference in the scheme of things, but still something you have to remember

Yeah I have been thinking of that, and I was thinking that I was going to modify the carb sending unit (or just get an FI unit) and run a compression union fitting from the HP line from the sender to the line on the car, and do similar at the front for the filter. I just don't want to swap the fuel lines, I like to be different.

Intimidator, that kinda sucks.. But, atleast your buddy let you get this far. I am sure you guys will work something out to keep this project going. I know its hard to get a job, I've been looking for what seems like forever and am getting discouraged.. Just keep on keepin' on!

I used my carb supply line for the LS1/4L60E swap. Compression fittings worked fine (just check for leaks - I had to retighten a couple of them). I used a FI repair line to go from the EFI pick-up I swapped in to the Vette filter.

Didn't mean to say they couldn't be used, just that there would be some additional changes that needed to be made that did not apply to the guys who had EFI to begin with.

alright well needing some parts and stuff so i paused on the car and went back to workin on the hood. cut out the underside part of it and cut out one of the flaps. still workin on ideas of things. was thinkin about riveting on the side pieces of metal instead of welding them. kinda like the look. well see.

By looking at it kinda remindes me of the hood that comes on cobras. I bet it will look sweet when finished.

Tony.
