using a gto t56 in a f body
I have just picked up a t56 setup from a 2004 gto. i have read about changing the shifter cup in the t56. is this just the tail housing or is there more? also if anyone has a website for the parts.
I have one more question. i have seen alot of debate about which pedals to use the 3rd gen or ls1 is one easier or better? thanks

a quick search on LS1tech netted me this result
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/manual...-firebird.html
I looked into doing the swap when I broke my T56, but decided just to rebuild what I had

I am running the MN12 in my car, you don't have to do anything to the tailshaft or the housing. Just change the shifter cup, buy an f-body shifter, and you're good to go! Oh and you have to use an LS2 starter with the MN12 bellhousing, I've tried using the f-body and truck starter and neither one fits.

I am pretty certain the GTO T56 uses the same tailhousing as the F-body. So your mounts are the same. However, there are plenty of aftermarket cross members that can relocate it.
