intake backfire from donor car..?

I managed to find a wrecked 99 z28 with a ls1 and t56
The guy sold me the whole car which was wrecked in the front after he hit another car. Everything but the trans and driveshaft were in, so I brought it home since it looked like it had no engine damage. Anyways the battery was crushed so I put another one in and everything lit up and it turned. No fuel? Fixed some of the wires in the computer and the fuel pump turns on! I got it to start one time and it sounded pretty bad. Missing in one of the cylinders it sounds like. It also was back firing from the intake before the start. Any reasons on why it sounds so bad? I was thinking it was just the computer had some plugs not connecting as some of the terminals were bent... I.e. fuel pump. Was wondering if any of u guys had another suggestion on what it is besides the computer. Any help is greatly appreciated!

PCM isnt the issue if it fires. Balancer strike can damage the bearings or tweak the reluctor ring which throws everything for a loop. If its ok, then dont worry about it

What codes did it throw

No computer to find the code... but it does fire and start so does that completely rule out the computer or what? My dad insist this is the problem but I beg to differ we both want to make sure it runs fine before its swapped into the iroc

Its not the PCM. Do a compression check on each cylinder and check spark plug condition first and post up what you find. Start with #7 as this is the most common corked cyl

Re: intake backfire from donor car..?

if you plan on keeping this motor and going to fuel injected...invest in one of those cheap obd2 code readers.it will atleast help with diagnosing any ecm issues if its throwing codes.

as for misfiring since its been hit.check all the plugs and plug wires, check all grounds to make sure none of the sensor signal could be pinched off.good luck

Re: intake backfire from donor car..?

I found out the cculvert! It seems as we pulled back a little bit on the wire cover/after the comp. Some wires were broken/crushed. Fixed them and it fixed the problem. Sounds great to! Can't wait to drop it into my Iroc
