LT1 + 700R4
few years ago I swap 91 L05 from caprice to my 88 bird. 700R4 have speed sensors with 2 gears and caprice VSS box. now I spaw 96 LT1 . do i need to install 40 teeth reluctor ring + VSS speed sensor for large hole for LT1 PCM ? or I can use signal from caprice VSS box or speed sensor that I have already.
Another question is , if I reprogram PCM to manual transmission PCM need to know speed ?
How about TCC lock up - i dont want manual lock up , can the car drive without TCC lock up ?
I do a search but most post that i find is about convert manual speedo to VSS .
Thanks

The TH700 requires a throttle valve cable. The only LT1 throttle body from the factory that connected to a TV cable was the '93 model year.
This TH700 is from the '88, right? I'm not sure what the Caprice VSS box is, but I'll have to defer to the more knowledgeable whether or not the 3rd gen VSS output can be used directly by the LT1 PCM. Same regarding a manual transmission.
I assume you don't have the 4L60E that came with the LT1.

Re: LT1 + 700R4
Save yourself the trouble and just get a 4l60e. I was cheaping out before and I lost a lot of time because of it.

I would say the same thing if it wasn't for "Location: Kiev Ukraine".

Re: LT1 + 700R4
700r4 is from 91 Caprice . 4L60E is really rare here on junkyards . shipping of new trans from US is too expensive . What will happen if PCM dont see speed sensor at all ? or i will set it to manual trans ?
