LT1 engine problem

Ok engine was running sputered & died out i say after 15-20 mins.Next day started engine & it died out after 5 mins, havent turned it on since. Today enginge just cranks over & doesnt start or try to start. Fuel pump goes on, can hear it humming. What could the problem be? Optispark crapped out? its a bone stock engine in a '97.

Check the fuel pressure, just because the fuel pump is heard does not mean it is providing significant amount of pressure or mean the line is being somewhat clogged by a dirty fuel filter.

Even a bad pump can make "normal" sounds.

Until you've verified fuel pressure and existence/lack of spark, you shouldn't be replacing anything.
