A little day trip

Took the LS1/4L60E Camaro to Julesburg, Colorado, today (northeast corner of the state). The track there was holding the "Colorado State Championship" races (the other area tracks apparently didn't get the memo, because they had their own big races today - my home track didn't, because they're getting ready for the Mile High Nationals next weekend).

202 miles one way, left a little after 7 a.m. (after leaving the home track at 12:45 a.m.) with a full tank of gas. Mostly interstate, 75 MPH limit. Got there about 10:30, teched in, changed tires, went out for time trials. Was above 90 degrees the whole time I was there (95-97 mostly).

Without getting into details of the racing, made 8 passes. Headed for home a little after 4 p.m., got home about 7:30 (made a stop for gas half way). Unloaded the car, filled it back up.

411 total miles, 8 passes down the 1320, average 21.6 MPG.

Not too shabby, I don't think.

Traction was horrible. I'd let go of the brake and hit the throttle, and just sit there. It sort of hooked once when the engine had had a chance to cool down, and ran a 12.90 @ 107. Had I known the traction was going to be so poor, I would have taken different tires. Now I know why the guys I've seen race at the home track that race at this track regularly have their cars so over-tired.

Re: A little day trip

I went on a long cruise this past weekend. A lot of stop and go and WOT. Filled up. Did the math, got 21mpg as well. I love these motors
