Nice wheels, i like the c5 zo6 wheels on your car. i just those wheels last month for my car too. i wish i knew that you could get adapters like that for bigger throttle bodies, i would of bought a 102mm, instead of having to buy one later down the road.

You mean like these?

I've been running them for 30,000 miles, including quite a bit of autocrossing with no stud problems. They won't fit with a 4th gen rear axle or front spacers though, the M6 wheels have a completely different backspacing on the rear. I'm running them with no spacers, factory 1LE front and rear backspacing (had a 3/8" spacer on the front before I went to the 1LE hubs).

Great looking build!

Those look great (and I read your 10k mile write up, very cool!), but I'm actually talking about these:

Re: Quickshifts 91 Firebird LSX Swap journal

Ah, gotcha. I remember seeing those on a Camaro on the boards a little while ago. I'm not certain the backspacing on those, because they weren't around when I started looking to do mine, but I'm pretty certain they a 19" rim. I wouldn't suggest going that large on a 3rd gen. The 18" I have are as much rim as I'd want to run, and that's with a 40 series tire. Anything skinnier than that and the ride is going to get rough real fast. Of course, the ZO6 rims he got are also an awesome looking rim. They look especially good on the '91-92 birds.

Love the look of the wheels on that black bird! And thanks guys for all the comments. Should have the rear axle back end of this week/next week and then see about getting the car on all 4 wheels finally. Can't wait to roll it out into the sun and clean it off. Pics to come as always. Fuel system will be next...

Whats left other than the fuel system?

BTW, something I have always wondered is what most guys are doing for exhaust on these cars. Can you take the catback system for a regular sbc and just make a custom y pipe to connect the headers to the cat?????

Hey man...fuel system, wiring harness, and still don't have the turbo. Other than those three things, just some loose ends. You can run the typical third gen catback into a custom Y if you are going all motor. That would work perfect. On a turbo though (unless twin) no sense for a Y since there is only 1 downpipe. I will probly just be running a single 3.5 exhaust all the way to the rear.

Oh, duh....I forgot you and your bro are turbo. I have just been reading so many LSx swaps that were NA. Either way, thats what I thought, thanks for confirming.

Small updates... Picked up a new serpentine belt and also installed the power steering lines. Used the stock 4th gen pressure line. Had to "massage" it into place a little, but overall it fit well.

Re: Quickshifts 91 Firebird LSX Swap journal

Slight change in plans...

For the time being, I am going to get my car running N/A. Because of the mild winter we have had, it seems like it's going to be an early year for shows/meets. I REALLY want to get this car on the road, turbo or not, and enjoy it for the summer. That way I will have this whole year to collect the rest of my turbo supplies and by next winter, make that my project.

So, with that said...I bought a brand new radiator since my cat used the old one as a scratching pad. Also bought some new rad hoses/clamps and bolted it all on along with the cooling fan. It's nice to see the engine bay filling out. Finally decided to put the hood back on the car too. I was getting tired of wiping dust out of the engine bay. Got the rear end back as well, so that will be going in soon. Stay tuned.

Re: Quickshifts 91 Firebird LSX Swap journal

So I've been slacking lately, but with the nice weather coming quickly I've decided it's crunch time. I want to be out driving this car soon! Ditched the old setup and bought a SPOHN T-56 crossmember/torque arm package. My motor mounts were spohn, so I wanted everything to match. Fitment is great as well. Got some fuel system parts on the way so I can get that taken care of next.

Re: Quickshifts 91 Firebird LSX Swap journal

Little more progress. Got the brand new sending unit and Walbro 255 installed and put the tank back in. Also got the brakes and lines on the rear and bolted the rear in. The car is finally sitting on the ground! Had some motivation to give it a wax and wipe down. Sorry for no outside pics, but I will snap some next nice day. I'm ordering the fuel lines and regulator next. Getting there!

Those are some fancy chrome lines coming out of the gas tank. Too bad you won't be able to see them! Your car is looking good! Keep up the good work.

Back from the dead! Making strides! Fuel system is done. I ran flex braided fuel hose all the way from the tank (so easy to work with!). -8 Feed, and -6 return. Love the way it came out. Now just waiting on headers and wiring harness.

man I,m thinking of a LS swap. With LQ4s complete going for 5 600 here, its eating me up when I think about my car. T56 still 1500 sooooo. If u dont mine me asking who deep it hit you for the swap with out turbo. I wanna do cheap as I can get it. LQ4, LS6 intake & TB, if I can Z06 7.0l cam and valve train, custom tune. I hope I can get it done for under 2k w/0 trans.

One of the last major components! And man these things are beautys. Stainless Works 1 3/4 LT headers with 2.5 collectors. The quality and fitment is second to none. Install took only a couple minutes, and they look amazing. Wiring harness & computer were ordered last week, and should be here in the next few days. I'm expecting the car to fire up in the next 2 weeks or so. Stay tuned!

Ohh, it is damn near rubbing lol. As soon as I put them in I could see that. I will try to snap a pic tomorrow. I'm sure it looks just like yours though.

Hey guys...been a while since I updated but I've honestly just been more concerned about getting this thing together than taking pics. Got the harness and computer from PSI solutions (awesome quality). Spent a couple days with my bro wiring it up. Primed the fuel system, with no leaks. The engine literally fired up today with a quarter turn, and runs very smooth. Takes a HUGE burden off my back lol. Just can't wait to fab up a Y pipe so I can start driving it. Should have more vids to come!

I can relate. There is no bigger relief than the instant that engine starts up....all those "did I wire it all correctly? what if it doesn't start?" goes right out the window. Big grats on getting it running, sounds great!

Are you keeping the truck filler oil filler neck? if you are swapping for a car one the part number is 12559505 and is less than $10.

I didn't really plan on changing it at the moment because it works, but may eventually. Thanks for the part # though! Saves me the searching.

I kept the truck coils actually. I know they made a few different styles...these are the ones with the heat sinks on top. Never heard anywhere that it was tight with truck coils though. My bro also has a 5.3 with the stock truck coils and didn't have an issue.

The truck coils with the heat sink may fit differently. I have the truck coils that have nothing but resin/epoxy on top (off of an '06 truck) and the one closest to the heaterbox in the back doesn't fit at all. I had to cut the bracket and re-weld to be able to fit the coil.

I asked in a pm, but maybe I'll open it up to everyone. How (if at all) does your psi connect to the factory harness? Do all the gauges work, stock fuel pump wiring, etc...

Just checking up on all wiring options. I had got my harness back from pocket (not completed) and if this works out well, maybe I'll do this instead.

From my experience, the coil brackets are made for specific coils and aren't interchangable.

The brackets are specific to which coils you are using. My next swap I'm getting rid of the coil brackets and mounting the coils somewhere else. The work I put into modifying the existing bracket, I could have built a relocation bracket to mounts the coils out of sight.

Where in Sweden are you from?

A few guys on here have just trimmed the A/C box to make it work. I'll probably end up doing the same thing on mine.

Quick GoPro vid i made of mostly cruising. I go WOT around 3:15. Was short shifting around 4-4500k since the tach is not accurate at the moment untill I can get it tuned. Car is running excellent though! Engine hasn't gotten above 180 degrees even on 90+ degree days. Oil pressure is excellent...around 40psi cruising. Can't wait to get it tuned and really have some fun with it!

Which radiator did you buy? Also, where did you get your ls1 accessory drive. I have a 5.3L long block, and I'm having trouble finding a used drive assembly.

The radiator is just a stock replacement from Advance Auto...nothing fancy there.

As for accessory drive, I bought mine used off of LS1Tech.com. They have a great 'for sale' section and every once in a while some accessories will pop up.

Re: Quickshifts 91 Firebird LSX Swap journal

Alright guys...so I'm terrible at updating, but this is what I've been up to for the last few months. The 5.3 in the car was fun, but my long term goal was always to build something bigger. I was up in the air between an N/A or boosted setup, but in the end stuck N/A. Wasn't looking to have the fastest car on the street, but just something that sounds nice and runs mid 11s all day...a fun street car. I picked up a 6.0 out of an 06 Denali, 82k on it. Upon initial tear down this thing was beautifully kept. Very clean internally. Here's a brief walkthrough of the build.

My Brother and I have been messing with the tuning. Got the idle down for the most part...now if only it would stop raining so we could do some street tuning!
