2 questions
I am building an LSX engine and have decided to carburate it which brings me to my first question.
I will be using a 700R4 so what transmission crossmember do I use the one for a 4L60E or the 700R4 or do I need to make my own?
Secondly I have seen a few threads where guys were attempting to use a Holley oil pan but have not seen anywhere that it did or didn't work. Does anyone have anymore info on this or can you point me to a thread that does?
Thank you

Re: 2 questions
regarding the crossmember, as long as you get the proper alignment adapters (spohn/hawks or 1" setback plates), your stock 700r4 crossmember can be reused

Re: 2 questions
Thanks Dan so this also means I could use a torque arm relocation crossmember for a 700R4? What is your recommendation as far as which one to use?

Re: 2 questions
i used the 46l0 crossmember from hawks because i am running a built 700r4 but i had to modify quite a bit. in all honesty in is not worth running a 700r4 with a lsx motor u are way better off with the 4l60. i had to have a custom tv cable made and a custom tv cable bracket. opened up the tail shaft and replaced it with 40ppm reluctor wheel to get the speedo to work right. i wish i never went this far but there is no turning back now!

Re: 2 questions
I don't think I should have that problem since I'm not running fuel injection. The Edelbrock carb intake comes with a bracket for the tv cable.
Re: 2 questions
True, most is EFI related, but it still doesnt change you're using a sloppy old trans that isnt rated to survive behind the LSx
For the crossmember, IMHO if you can build your own, do so. Be sure to put "humps" in it for better exhaust clearance
For the oil pan you're options are limited. Biggest thing to keep in mind is sump depth as you have about 5.5" to the bottom of the K member before a speedbump changes your oil for you
Stock K-member you can use a Fbody pan or a cut down truck pan. No other options will suffice
Aftermarket K allows most of the corvette pans as well as most aftermarket sheetmetal pans
In stock form NONE of the truck, GTO, Hummer or 2010+ camaro pans will fit

Re: 2 questions
Thanks Pocket for the oil pan info but that's not entirely true Mast motorsports makes one that will fit 3rd gen f-bodies. The Holley sump area will fit no problem but I was wondering if the front will interfere with the steering as its about 1" deeper in the front.
As for a sloppy old 700R4 not in this case I already have one built to withstand 800 hp ( pro built by Mad dog transmissions http://www.maddogtransmissions.com/). I didn't think the old one that came with the car would hold up to long with the substantial increase in power I'd be running.

Re: 2 questions

I took another look at my car the other night, and since I saw the link to the ebay ad where they said they had a Holley pan in the 3rd gen, I am pretty sure it is going to work. At most it looks like a little BFH hammer clearancing may be required.
I am going to try to get my friends hoist again this week so I can put the pan in the car.
