LS3/T56 Swap?
LS3/T56 Swap?
I can get a good deal on a 2011 6.2L LS3 from a 2011 Vette, and i already have an LT1 T56 sitting in my shed complete. I am looking to change the input shaft, bellhousing, and front cover and attaching this T56 to this LS3 and dropping em both in my 91 Camaro.
What do i all need to make this engine work with the fuel injection set up? The car was originally a throttle body injection car (currently carb'd). Here is what ive come up with so far that i'll need.
Fuel Pump (already have a Mallory Fuel Pressure Regulator)
Engine Wiring Harness and Engine Computer
Something to run the Drive-By-Wire throttle body
LS3 Flywheel, Good Clutch Set Up (Recommendation's)
Exhaust Manifold's or Header's that'd fit a Third Gen? (Have factory corvette manifold's)
Front Accessories that'll fit?
Modifying the factory power steering pump to fit the engine?
Rad Hose's?
Air Intake? (Or is a custom cold air intake the best?)
Vette Coil Cover's? (Where to get them?)
What else is needed to make it run in my Third Gen? How do i make my guages work? (Tach, Oil Pressure, Water Temp) Is the Speedo just gonna be a plug in and work now with the electric speedo, or do i need a converter box for the pulses to?
What can i do to squeeze more HP outta this LS3 also? It's already got the huge throttle body from the vette. Will be getting a cam change. The cylinder deactivation has already been deleted. Engine is sitting at a reputable engine builder's as he knows alot about chevy engines. He says for the work involved it's not worth to port these head's at all being they flow really good already.
I was thinking just a cam change, good exhaust, and a good 91 or 93 octane tune. I am shooting for no less than 550rwhp. Nothing wrong with more hp either.
I am also gonna be doin more work to the chassis and rear end to be holding the power better. I dont wanna twist this car as it was freshly painted less than a year ago.
Anyone else done a LS3/T56 swap in their car's? Was it worth the hassle over a regular SBC? Does an LSx increase the value of the car at all, or decrease it? Would you do the LSx swap again?
