I'm not that far in my build yet but I feel your pain.
That being said you also need a new oil pump if i'm not mistaken on top of the pan so it isn't just a matter of modding the pan.

The oil pump pickup changes, not the oil pump.
I can understand how being in Canada would complicate things. But, can you or do you know someone who can weld aluminum? This won't be as simple as modifying an old stamped steel oil pan.

oil pump will be fine. to change the pan you will have to cut down the oil pickup tube and the dipstick to match depth with whatever you take off the bottom of the pan. the windage tray can be modded with a little trimming, or just get the f-body one.

this might not be a bad route to go. By the time you pay for someone to weld the truck pan, and modify the pickup, and the time to wait, this could be had for a semi-reasonable amount.

Re: Modified truck oil pan?
this is a recent example i remembered of a modded truck pan. Its not a thirdgen but would be real similar. Its at post #55. He also added a wing on the pan which wouldn't really be necessary.
