What is the best type of intake setup for Lt1 for boost?

Im looking into the Lt1 intake but it seems people say they are not good for boost. Also have been checking into the efi carbs, like the EZ EFI system and MSD one or the Holley one.

LT1 forged bottom end 4bolt main

looking for my top end power through some new heads maybe and EFI system then later single or twin turbo system.

Any ideas to get me going in the right direction for this build would be great

What you tuning with? Factory LT1 ecm?
There are some fast boosted LT1's using LT1 intakes but they can have distribution problems. Aftermarket EFI systems with injector control features for front/rear bias can solve problems but I dont think the factory ECM can.

I've seen 1 test where a guy picked up a good bit of power and had better distribution with a single plane EFI intake with 90 deg elbow and LSx type throttle body. I dont know if they make an intake like that specifically for the LT1 but a sbc version will fit, just redrill the holes and block off the distributor.

Thats your best bet.

I have good distribution on my sbc using victor EFI intake with elbow/tb arrangement.

You mean LT-1 as in the old 70's sbc 350?

I thought LT1 refered to the 92-97 gen 2 small blocks with optispark

if its already carbed, go with a EFI carb style intake and throttle body setup... can do MPFI type with carb hat but may not clear hood or get a low rise elbow with lsx style TB

Yes this is a 90's motor but i put a carb on it. Do you think the carb style efi's handle boost well? or do you think a tpi setup would be better for boost? and ive need heard of a mpfi.

Yeah it doesnt look like one. Whats the casting numbers on the block and heads? Either way the carb style EFI intakes will handle boost well.

Re: What is the best type of intake setup for Lt1 for boost?

just a guess but with those pictures id say its just a 87-90's 350 or even 305 if the heads are from that block. you will need the head casting numbers to find out what heads are on it. even greater chance you have swirlport heads. there is alot of unknowns that should be knowns prior to any boost

Re: What is the best type of intake setup for Lt1 for boost?

I know that the block is a 350 4 bolt and 40 over but the heads all i know is 1.94 valves i got it all rebuilt last summer and found out the the pistons were also forged. so im basically looking for my top end to make it healthier and i have this cam

also im pretty sure the heads are from the stock 305 because it had a tbi on the car when i got it and i had to buy a special edelbrok intake to fit them
