Need LT1 swap info
I have been searching for a few days now and can't find the exact info I need about LT1 swaps. My friend and I are building a sand toy project and need some enlightening.
Vehicle
1992 Toyota 4runner 4x4 (front 4x4 assemblies have been deleted, no need for it)
Current Powerplant
1996 LT1/4L60e from a Firebird
My friend bought the 4runner from the previous owner with the motor swap already completed. It runs and drives ok, but has some minor issues. Upon pulling the dash and other interior items, we discovered a rats nest of wiring. Previous owner used a Painless brand engine harness, but REALLY goobered it up. 1 foot long sections of wire with 3 butt connectors in it, that kind of crap.
We're looking to clean up/simplify the wiring harness for the motor, but that's where I can't find the info I need.
1. What are the bare minimum sensors needed to run a 1996 LT1 engine/trans? We're looking to simplify, so less wires the better.
2. The engine/trans/pcm setup is from a 1996 vehicle. From what I've read so far, it seems like the 94-95 setups are more swap friendly/tuneable. Is this correct? And is there a way to convert our 1996 setup to a 94-95 setup (swapping out sensors and PCM?)?
I've learned a lot from you guys about my 1992 Z28, and I didn't know where else to ask. Included are pics of the project after we mocked up and installed the front long travel suspension. Now we know how much firewall we have to tub. And finally, my Z28.

We'll let this thread live as long as all discussions can be applied to 3rd gens. Stray from that, and it's Mr.

Not much to loose ; has the 96 PCM has been tuned to eliminate the rear O2 sensors used by OBDII 96-97 PCM
Nearly plug and play
