Optispark II work with 94 harness?
I know it will fit the block. With the longer cable for the II, would the 94 PCM recognize it?
Putting 94 harness on fresh 97 LT1 longblock with w/hotcam kit. Running 94 serpentine setup. 700R4 .

Are you talking about just the opti harness or the WHOLE harness? 94 is OBD1 PCM and 97 is OBD2 PCM.

The main harness and PCM are '94. Can I swap the optispark harness and optispark II the 95-97 and still work with the '94' PCM?

94 opti is spline drivin, and the 95-97 opti is drivin by a dowel pin in the cam shaft and they are not compatible. Im assuming you want to swap over the 97 opti because I dont see an advantage of just a harness swap.
However I do believe you can get a vented opti for the spline drivin opti but im not positive.
The vented unit is supposed to last longer since the vacuum sucks all the moisture out of it. But from my experience opti's just flat out suck. Some will tell you they have over 100k on theirs and theyve never had a problem, but a very selective few are so lucky. So depending on how far you want to take it, its a good time to swap in a dizzy or coil pack conversion(24x, LTCC).

Even with the cam kit and the pin set to work for the opti II? The cam can work with either, it looks like it is just a matter of how far out the dowel sticks out. So the cam will run the dist, but would the opti II harness fit and work with the 94 main harness?

This will tell you which is which. Since you have a diffrerent cam im not positive which one you need.

The hotcam can be set for either. I was hoping (if the wires worked) that I could just run a 95-97 version with the 94 harness and PCM.

I think(I havent had a spline driven opti) the harness is internal to the opti on 93-94. But if the pigtail is the same at the intake, I dont see why it wouldnt work. Go to shbox.com and take a look to see if they have any info on it, its a very helpful LT1 swap site

anyone else? BTW, shbox didn't have anything on the distributor swapping, but it is an incredible resource for my LT1 swap. Thanks.

Re: Optispark II work with 94 harness?
Yes, the 94 pcm can work with a 95-97 optispark because people have swapped later optis on their 92-94 LT1's. However, you need the optispark harness from a 95-97 because the connector to the 95-97 optispark is different.

Re: Optispark II work with 94 harness?
sweet. Thats what I was hoping. When I put the cam kit in (LT! hotcam), it is already set for the Opti II (pin). So all i would need is the opti II harness.

And you need the special vacuum resistors, I went to NAPA and they told me it was a dealer part only(85$!!!!)
I have an extra vacuum resistor at home if you need it
