LT1 Swap
LT1 Swap
TO ALL:
I am working on a project with my son and would appreciateany advice and/or direction from the members here. Weare not trained or experienced mechanics, but sure are willing to learn and getdirty. I have some experience, but havenot done a project like this since 1989 (73 Chevy Laguna, 350 to a 305)
THE PROJECT:
We have a 93 Firebird Trans Am and a 94 Firebird Formula V8.
We want to swap the LT1 engines out. The 93 is running good (LT1 with iron heads)and the 94 (Aluminum Heads) is not. My plan is to takethe engine out of the 94 and take it to an engine shop and have it rebuilt to a383 Stroker and have the following installed and machined:
GM Performance LT1 Hot Cam Kit P/N 12480002(Cam, springs - shims, retainers, clips, Roller Rockers)
Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller Lifters(Part # 850-16)
Cloyes Heavy Duty Timing Set
Heads will be ported.
Then install the rebuild in the 93
I hoping someone can post a step-by-stepguides and required tool list for pulling the engines from the top.
1. With the Happy Hooker Lift Tool (Iordered one from TPiS, but still waiting on delivery – I live in Ontario, Canadanear Toronto)
2. Withoutthe Happy Hooker Lift Tool
Thank you
PS
Can anyone tell me the Valve timing Events for the Lt1 Hot Cam. I have the Cam Card, but it does not provide thetiming Events (IVO=, IVC=, EVO= & EVC=)
