Hey guys I have an idea for an off the wall/not your typical LT1 swap. I was going to pull the L98 out of my 91 and freshen it up but since I'll be getting a 94 LT1 from a friend here for $200 bucks (did some wheeling and dealing) I can't see the point on staying with the L98.
The engine is in damn good condition and totally complete so here's my idea.
I want to use the stock computer and harness that's all ready in the car, yes I know the LT1 computer is better but for what I'm using the car for (daily driver with some pep) I don't feel like digging through the harness again. I've already pulled it out once and cleaned it up. For tuning I plan on getting the EBL P4 since I'm already good at tuning an EBL set up. I plan on tearing down the engine and freshening it up. A hone, new bearings and rings along with some very mild porting and clean up of the heads. I've heard the ZZ4 cam is a good very mild upgrade with the LT1 so I already have one so I'm dead set on using that with some new ZZ4 springs that I already have.
I don't plan on using the stock intake, I want to do something different. I'm thinking about getting an HSR and drilling it for LT1 head use. ( It should be easier than drilling and modding the stock LT1 intake for a distributor since trying to find someone to do it and finding spacers is a pain in the ***.) I figure I could port both the stock LT1 intake and the stock TPI intake to sell them and make up some of the cost of the HSR. I should get the best of both world's using the HSR, both good bottom end and great top end power.
Plugging up the stock timing cover is one of the easy parts, JB Weld will work just fine for this. (Already done this for my 88 LT383) So what do you guys think? I know it's not your "typical" LT1 swap but I think for what it's being used for it should do me just fine. any thoughts?

The HSR would provide me wit a better bottom end torque than the stock LT1 intake, plus it would be easier to Get the HSR to fit than having to try to mod the stock LT1 intake for a distributor. From the research I've done many LT1 guys have swapped over to the HSR with positive results.
