Planning on starting my 5.3 swap in my 91 firebird. I was told that getting a new 5.3 out of a truck has a computerized peddle and no throttle cable. How or what would I have to do to get my stock peddle to work with this motor?

 

Since you're going to have to have the 5.3 computer in there ANYWAY, and it is perfectly equipped to operate the throttle, it makes ALOT more sense to figure out how to make your pedal work the appropriate sensor, than to jimmy some other TB and do a bunch of programming and all that.

Kinda like, it's a lot eeeeeeezier to row DOWN the river, WITH the current, than to row UP the river AGAINST the current. Work WITH it, instead of fighting it, and your life won't be near as hard.

 

Get the accelerator pedal out of the donor vehicle, along with the associated harnesses. Install them in your car along with the engine.

 

Typically 99-02 GM trucks with a 4.8/5.3/6.0 will already have a cable actuated throttlebody. In this instance, hawks has a throttle cable on the shelf as the easiest solution.

03-up GM trucks are all "drive by wire" or an electronically actuated throttle body. In this instance, the gas pedal, TAC module, and the an-harness connecting the two need to be kept and utilized from the donor vehicle along with the harness and PCM.

It is much simpler in my opinion to use 99-02 harness and PCM, with a 99-06 engine.
