Carbed 305 to lt1 swap
Carbed 305 to lt1 swap
Ok I have a 90 rs. I've blown the carbed 305 motor and recently bought a lt1 & 4l60e with the steering column & key from a 95 z28. The motor is still wired up to the pcm.... So my question is can I jus drop in the motor & run power to the pcm to get it run?

Pretty much. You'll need battery power and switched power to the PCM. And proper fuel pressure to the fuel rail.
Little things like tach, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and speedometer are kind of nice to have, too, though.
What was the source of your LT1/4L60E?
By the way, '90 RS wouldn't have come from the factory with a carb. It had a TBI originally. Either the TBI has been removed and a carb installed sometime in the past, or you're confusing the TBI for a carb.

Sorry, somehow I missed that the first time.
You'll need to up the fuel pressure. If it still has the in-tank pump, you'll need a TPI type pump, or an aftermarket replacement like Walbro 255 (which is what I'm using for my LS1 swap). The original TBI in-tank pump may get it running, but won't support much power (like on-ramp power).
Not sure about using the steering column and key. Most people just tune out VATS from the PCM. Since there are other changes that will (most likely) be required, like some emissions commands or gears or tire size, it's usually easier to do it that way than to swap in the column.
