im in the middle of my swap and was going to swap the 4th gen tank. unfortunately my donor was a 98 so i have the metal tank.

instead of cutting the filler neck, can i just swap the 4th gen pump into the 3rd gen tank??

im not trying to buy too many new parts just yet as im trying to use the entire 4th gen car, all wiring ect

Pop the sender out and look. If it's in a bucket, it will have a Venturi and is not recommended for use in a 3rd gen tank. If it is open like a 3rd gen sender, swap it over

The sender as a whole will not fit a 3rd gen tank unfortunately

Fwiw, a fuel pump from a 97 ck1500 5.0/5.7 pickup is inexpensive and drops in a 3rd gen sender. High pressure like ls1
