Does the ls1 plastic fuel tank need to be grounded? I know there is the solid mount on the filler hose but not sure about the tank. I was planning on using a bike tire tube as the tank strap insulator and didn't know how the tank grounded itself. I know my silverado has rubber on the straps and the camaro had some sort of material, just not sure about a ground wire.

 

The sender is the only electrical component and its got two grounds. Plastic is non-conductive, so grounding the tank does nothing

 

I've just heard that it can build up static electricity. Kinda like a balloon would. Didn't think so but wanted to check.

 

3rd gen tank grounded the fuel gauge sender to the metal fuel tank. You will need to add a ground to the car body for the 4th gen fuel gauge sender.

 

Yup, plan on that since I'm using the 4th gen bulk head. Thanks.
