truck coils

Ok so I just had a few questions about the truck coils. How does everyone clean these thing? Since they appear to not come apart very well after you unbolted them?
Also just wanted to know how everyone clearanced for the fuel rail on driver side? I bent it up a little and plan on taking one bolt out of coil and turning it to clear plug . Doesn't seem to change anything but just wanted to see what other options there are.

Also I just wanted to double check on o2 sensors. Is there a seperate plug that connects to harness and to o2 sensor? Atm I have 2 female ends. Didn't know if I need a new o2 sensor or if there's a piece of wiring I'm missing

Thanks
Tim

Re: truck coils

Old toothbrush and some patience. They do not come apart

The LS1/6 fuel rail needs to be bent or the coil bracket modified to use anything but Fbody coils. A simple work around that looks better is billet rails. Used sets are generally the same price as used OEM rails

O2 sensors have an inline plug and 8-10" of wire before the actual sensor. Two main types are a flat connector (LT1, early truck LSx) and the square connector (Fbody, corvette, mid year truck LSx). Word of caution, do not modify the sensor from the connector to body. It uses stainless wire, cannot be soldered and crimping isnt easy

Re: truck coils

Aww figured as much on the coils.
As far as the o2 sensors. My original harness just has a female connector on the o2 and the harness has the male connector. Can I make these work or do I need to buy the extra part to connect my new harness to the o2 connector?

Re: truck coils

Both are the same as what were in your harness. I can get a pic up tomorrow if you still need it

Re: truck coils

This is the plug I have on my o2 sensor. It is exactly the, same on my harness. Am I just missing something?

Re: truck coils

Is the connector white or black?

If its black, use a corvette rear HO2. $20-30 on rock auto

Re: truck coils

Look at the configuration of the guide slots/grooves in each plug and compare. Usually its as simple as take a razor knife and trimming one or both of the grooves off and they slide right in. For whatever reason GM did this on various set ups to prevent O2 swaps from say a Corvette or Caddy to a truck harness, even though the O2 functions the same. I like the C6 rear O2's personally ( fastest switching ) but they required the mods I mentioned to slide into my 07 truck harness.

Re: truck coils

Cant do that with all types

All black connectors interchange, white/gray connectors are different circuits

Re: truck coils

Thanks for the info but thanks to this swap I already had some points saved up at azone. 0lus the price matched the o2 sensors I needed so I just got new ones.
