LS swap fuel system

I am doing a LS2 swap in my 85 Z28TPI. Right now i just want to get the rear end done (IE fuel system)...(i am also doing gears)

What is the best option?
Using a newer tank (99,00,01), getting a sending unit(cause none of them come w one). then what? just a line swap kit?

what kind of vette fuel filter has the built in regulator? (ie year)

if i use the stock tank(have a walbro 255 already), i need a hawks pump kit, line swap, filter & regulator. but then what happens with the return line?

any helpful info is much appreciated!

Re: LS swap fuel system

I kept my stock 3rd gen tank becuase it was in good shape and used the racetronix/walbro 255 pump. Its whichever you feel comfortable using, if your tank is in bad shape then maybe switch to one of the newer ones. The vette filter with regulator I got for a 2003 vette(WIX Part # 33737) I didnt use the hawk fuel line kit, I got the info off of here and made my own lines. That also requries running all new fuel line which is not that bad. I used this info from jbenge and pocket to do the fuel system https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...s1-swap-3.html. He gives a list of the part#s and how to route everything. The return line will just go from the tank to the filter. If you use your stock tank and your sending unit is in good shape you could probablly use it, but i had to get a new one because mine was in bad shape. Hope that helps some.

Re: LS swap fuel system

Did/doing the same thing. Was already rebuilding my rear-end, so dropping the tank was a piece of cake. I've got my lines already running to the filter (I mounted it in the stock location), and after I get my engine bay painted, I'll make the remaining line from filter to fuel rail, and run the harness at the same time.

My stock tank actually had baffles built in already (I was really surprised!), and I really didn't feel like swapping tanks out when mine was damn near perfect inside. If yours is fine, I'd suggest just keeping it.
