Lt1 identification or lt4?
Lt1 identification or lt4?
Recently bought a lt1? and t56 from a 96 SS camaro. My question is that the intake looks like a lt4, being red. Is there a way to tell if it is without taking it apart? A casting number somewhere? If so what would it be? I have read that some SS camaros had the lt4 without the "hot" cam. I have also read that edelbrock had a kit and some people even painted them.

The runners stand out.

For F-bodies, the LT4 was 1997 only, and the 8th digit of the VIN would be a 5, instead of a P for an LT1.
