LQ4 swap fuel pump
LQ4 swap fuel pump
What fuel pump do you guys recommend that will work in the stock tank of a 1987 Iroc? Is there some factory GN fuel pump that will work or do I need to get an aftermarket pump? I'm trying to collect as many parts as I can before I go down and get my engine from where I moved from so I can try getting the swap done in the shortest amount of time possible

I see this is your first post. Welcome!
There are tons of build threads on here that touch on what is needed in terms of fuel pumps and lines. there are different options to go with based on if you are keeping the stock fuel tank or updating. In my build I used a corvette filter with a built in regulator, and built brand new fuel lines from the tank to the engine.
I am not sure if a stock 4th gen fuel pump fits on the sending unit of a stock 3rd gen, someone else can chime in and confirm/deny. I went with a walbro 255 for my pump.
I would also read through the LS swap stickies as they really lay a lot of the big modifications needed.

Walbro 255 intank pump, corvette filter/regulator and run new braided fuel line front to back is the best way. You can use a 4thgen tank/pump assembly but requires more plumbing and wiring iirc.
Re: LQ4 swap fuel pump
Well I'm hoping to use the stock fuel lines that are in the Iroc. I'm also planning to use the stock truck intake and accessories. So the stock truck fuel rails already have the regulator on them. My plan is to use the Holley engine mounts, transmission cross member and the Holley LS swap oil pan.
Re: LQ4 swap fuel pump
Walbro 255 is good for most swaps. But you can't just go off of that. Need to do research into what fuel flow you'll need to support whatever HP goal you have.

Re: LQ4 swap fuel pump
Probably be wiser to upgrade now.
(A) Fuel system is already open
(B) Not being able to supply adequate fuel at correct pressure is going to jack with your ability to tune the engine.

Re: LQ4 swap fuel pump
The 255 can comfortably handle that.
There are several calculators out there that can tell you how much flow you are going to need to handle whatever horsepower goal you have. Look on google for one. Some even tell you what injector size you'll need to comfortably run the HP you want.
