What would you take from a 4th gen donor?

I have done some searches, ok, well maybe not enough, but I figured this is a good title thread and I intend to add a bunch of keywords to the bottom of this post to make it searchable.

Now to the main topic...

so you have a 3rd gen... That you are going to do a LSx swap in. so obviously some 4th gen parts come into play.

Now the hypothetical question. If you had access to a 4th gen at a junkyard, or just to strip parts from a partout, or in my case the whole damn car in your garage taking up space to keep your 3rd gen out in the elements.

WHAT WOULD YOU TAKE?

Even if you don't use on your car, but maybe even to resell to a swap car, or in some cases, just a smart 4th gen part to grab and resell(example, 98-02 center console lid)

So I have a 4th gen, what I am stealing before scrapping(car is already "totaled"

-Ls1/accessories/t56, bellhousing/master/slave/power electrical harness/sensor harness
-motor mounts.
-rear end w/brakes/torque arm/e-brake
-front brakes calipers(maybe spindles)
-fuel tank(I have a factory carb 3rd gen) heat shield, pump, lines, and misc
-seats(black leather)

Intend to remove to recoup some cash...
-center console, because I now the lid is worth some bucks
-pedals( I think I may use my 3rd gen setuip but seems desirable to possibly resell)
-maybe the hatch, not sure if a non-rear defrost hatch and control panel is worth anything
-tail lights to sell
-berger panel mine is panted black but some desire it.

any thoughts?

Re: Why would you take from a 4th gen donor?

Pretty sure the spindles won't work. There are other odds and ends that swap, depending on how creative you want to get. Washer reservoir, window sweep, door panels, all with modifications.List of other parts.

I am pretty sure they don't work, but for an ls1 brake conversion I am concerned I might need parts.

I forgot about windshield/coolant resovoirs.

Brake Booster Check valve. Not a big deal, but will enable you to use the stock 4th gen booster hose which fits perfectly. Stock 3rd gen is too small

I had the same situation. Basically, if you can unbolt it and store it, I'd keep it. You can always throw things away later.

Off the top of my head, the e-brake cable bracket that's welded underneath the car would be good to have. Also, the ring on the firewall that the HVAC box mounts to. It's spot welded in, but comes out relatively easy. It's needed for anyone doing an HVAC swap. The dash itself along with all the HVAC stuff, all the interior plastics, speakers, stock amplifier....

Yeah like Memphis says grab and use that parking brake bracket. Especially if you intend on using 4th Gen rear brakes. On my swap I also used the 4th Gen radiator, radiator hoses, heater hoses booster hose, and instrument cluster in addition to the things you listed like engine, harness, rear end, and fuel tank. I had to trim the top of the fuel filler neck down about 1 1/2" from the top. Also don't forget the T fitting from the fuel line. I reconfigured the fuel line, filter, and return line all to the tank for one clean package. The pedals are up to you. I used the 4th Gen pedals but modified them to fit. Seat belts are nicer and lighter also.
