Starting summer with a bang...boosted lq4 hits the road.

I have a problem...a problem you guys can relate to.The need for more lol. I spent the last 3 weeks slowly working on my car to do a head swap.Taking off my milled 243 heads and swapping to my milled 317 heads with a freshened topend.Dual springs, new pushrods, new ls7 lifters/trays,trunion upgrade. An inexpensive swap.I know my bottomend is on its way,the crankcase pressure is beyond high...shes a steam engine venting both valve covers directly so I know piston rings are my issue.Anyways i slapped the car together, new clutch..thanks monster for a wicked twin disc,my legs are happy.New pair of et streets and i headed to the opening armdrop race event.Packed some tools..oil(not enough!) a few cameras and drove 3 hrs out for some oldschool fun. I was able to make 1 pass...the line up was really long and with over 400 cars and no a/c I was happy to make a pass..unsure what to expect from all the changes. Heres the pass against a boosted maxima i believe:

After that is when things were borderline do i go again at the end of day and try to hook up and turn the boost up...or make sure im able to drive home. I choose play it safe..somewhat. I know that hitting boost for a full gear starts pushing oil pas the cam sensor o ring. I met up with a few cars on the 3hr drive home and the fun began. I didnt get to capture all the runs but i took down another hellcat, grand national,srt4,integra,and a newer golf that though he was something special running up on me multiple times before I laid him to waste lol:

Remember how i said i brought oil, well after 3hrs and overboosting what i thought i had set to 12psi was more like 17.5 watching the video .I got off the hwy and saw oil pressure was low,my cutout had stuck open and i couldnt hear my valvetrain asking for some lubrication I pulled off to the next street and poured the litre of oil i had and coasted my way for the next 10 mins which felt like eternity to my house. I shut her down and stood infront of the car and just smiled. We build them..break them..curse at them..they curse back but its the love of the hobby we keep going.I possibly toasted the thing..am i mad..not at all, will i be back with more stupid ideas to buld another part of it and break something else. you can bet your *** Torched T/A will be a 408 on boost next yr..with my stock rearend LOL

Im looking into a Tsp 408 kit. If Im tearing into the block.. i want a solid foundation to put the rest of my parts back onto. My end goal isnt really making more power than i crruently am..just longevity for the abuse it will see.

Re: Starting summer with a bang...boosted lq4 hits the road.

*Update* Change of plans..ofcourse lol.

I found a 250km gen 3 lq4 complete intake to pan with ecu and harness for a cheap price.I picked it up and from needing to be desludged slightly on the heads the motor runs without a hiccup.I have a friend with a garage willing to swap my motors out for me and in turn keep my current lq4 ..swap my fresh 317 heads onto the new motor..maybe throw in a turbo cam..open up the ring gaps a bit more and plug it back into my car.And Ill give him all the extras that came with this motor that I have no use for as payment.he wants to build a 402/na with maybe some spray so it will workout perfect. I might not be done for the season and can get a proper turbo cam better suited for the setup.Im thinking a Ljms stage 2 cam..fresh ls7 lifters and my topend should still make over 620whp and be safe for some fun.
